Still pretty quiet in the Chess
Valley......
After another full week of hot temperatures
and clear blue skies, everywhere is looking parched. WEST WOOD remains silent,
with just a few Robin and Chaffinch families busily feeding, whilst WALK WOOD
has a fledged flock of Goldcrest - 4 in number. Barn Swallows have done
extremely well in CHENIES with some 25+ fledged - a pair of YELLOWHAMMER being
present too.
In the vicinity of the CRESTYL CRESSBED
FARM, Grey Wagtail, Green Woodpecker and Common Chiffchaff noted, with the Mute
Swan pair accompanying 3 cygnets. A RING-NECKED PARAKEET was noisily calling
from the SARRATT BOTTOM MEADOW, with a Great Spotted Woodpecker in trees there
too. Neighbouring VALLEY FARM PADDOCKS harboured Grey Wagtail, 5 Pied Wagtails,
15 Common Starlings and 9 Linnets, with 2 Jays and a Common Chiffchaff noted in
FROGMORE MEADOW.
CHURCH COVERT held both Great Spotted &
Green Woodpecker, Wren, 3 Song Thrush, Greenfinch, Stock Dove, 6 juvenile Great
Tits, 5 Blackcap and a Common Chiffchaff, with a pair of YELLOWHAMMER in the
hedgerow opposite. Still a fair few House Martin and Barn Swallow in LATIMER
VILLAGE with the CHESS between NEPTUNES FALLS and the road yielding 5 Little
Grebe (family party), 5 Mute Swans (including a pair with 2 cygnets), 2 Tufted
Duck broods (a 4 & a 5), Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Stock
Dove.
In LITTLE CHALFONT, 6 Greenfinches in
CHENIES AVENUE together and just 1 BADGER still visiting my garden
